iSchool researchers to present at Charleston Conference

iSchool faculty, staff, and students will participate in the 2023 Charleston Conference, which will be held November 6-10 in Charleston, South Carolina. The conference is an annual gathering that draws librarians, publishers, vendors, and others to discuss issues relating to the acquisition of books and serials. 

Wednesday, November 8

Affiliate Professor Lisa Hinchliffe will co-lead the workshop, "Charleston Trendspotting Initiative."

Thursday, November 9

Adjunct Lecturer and PhD student Jim Hahn, head of metadata research at University of Pennsylvania Libraries, will present at the session, "Share-VDE and Beyond—Cooperation and Innovation to Bring Linked Open Data into Practice."

Postdoctoral Research Associate Janaynne Carvalho do Amaral will present at the session, "Charleston 2023 Metadata the Musical: The Dilemma at Spivak Library."

Associate Professor Jodi Schneider will present at the session, "Department of We-Take-It-Back!: Promoting Awareness of Retracted Research in the Scholarly Record."

Affiliate Professor Lisa Hinchliffe will present at the session, "Unravelling the Ethical Enigma: Who are the Guardians of Research Integrity?"

iSchool researchers to present at CHI 2025

iSchool faculty and students will present their research at the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2025), which will be held from April 26 to May 1 in Yokohama, Japan. 

Undergraduate Research Symposium features iSchool students and mentors

Several iSchool undergraduate students will participate in the 18th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. During the event, visitors will learn about undergraduate research projects through oral and poster presentations, creative performances, and art exhibits. All are welcome to attend the symposium, which will be held on April 24 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in the Illini Rooms and South Lounge of the Illini Union. Oral presentations will be held on the second floor of the Illini Union.

Ellis joins iSchool Career Services

Michelle Ellis joined the iSchool on April 7 as associate director of career services. In her new role, she will deliver career support to undergraduate and graduate students in the School.
